Songs Stages and Seafood 2014 ….What a Time!!!
I can’t believe our second Songs, Stages and Seafood Festival has come and gone, leaving many fond memories for those who attended. For those who attended, it was a weekend to celebrate the sea and all it inspires. Our festival is designed to engage a broad audience, those who love music, dance, and of course food. Most of the events were family friendly and interactive. One of the festivals foundations is education, most of the events had some component of learning, from workshops, demos, and a chowder competition, and it is indeed experiential and engaging.
It is important that I acknowledge that this festival is a developing project, there will be changes to ensure the primary goals are met. (Which are: profiling local product, world class chefs and musicians, celebrating the heritage and culture of the sea and of course bring more people into our region)
As the festival grows, so will partnerships with the industry and the local business community, opportunities will present itself to ensure this event is sustainable and aid in the tourism development of the region. The ultimate goal is to offer a world class event and make the festival a destination within our destination management organization http://legendarycoasts.com/
We have a great deal to be thankful for and much to show the world, our region abounds with treasures it is our time to ensure we have the building blocks in place , the Songs, Stages and Seafood Festival is becoming one of the foundations to the tourism shoulder season in Newfoundland and Labrador.
Please take the time and look at a sampling of some of the pictures taken at this year’s festival.
