Santa is very excited about the Bay Roberts Night Time Parade tomorrow Night!!
December is less then a day away and the excitement is building for the Jolly Old Elf , Santa Claus!! Here in Bay Roberts we have planned a new tradition, a night time Santa Claus parade! This parade will take the place of the Parade of Lights that use to start our festival every year. Our Special Event Committee wanted to kick it up a notch and present the parade on a Sunday evening. There is just something special about the twinkling of lights and the smiling faces of children at Christmas time.
Ian Flynn and I had the opportunity to meet with members of the Bay Roberts Lion’s Club to discuss the idea of possibly merging our two community parades. It was a positive meeting and we all left the meeting with a understanding we would work on the concept of one night time parade to represent our community. We also agreed there is a need for input from the public and participants as there are pros and cons to this possibility. I welcome comments on this merge, both for , or against.
The night time parade will start at the town council office at 5pm and ending at the Royal Canadian Legion on Water Street just in time for the Children’s Wish Tree Lighting at the RCMP Station, CB Highway (6pm)
Here are a few pictures of some of the floats that will be at the parade. I am very happy to announce that Catherine’s Dance Studio will have a team of dancers in the parade! It is also great that our local Bay Roberts Fire Department and Avalon North Search and Rescue Group will be there too!! I hope to see you there, or better yet, get involved!!
Tow Mater is ready for our Parade!!
Lots of characters shining for the parade!
Mr. Snowman will be there to greet you!!
Santa will be hanging around at the parade!!
Did I mention Santa will be arriving in a dory!!
I hope to see you there!!

The intelligent light park is finally ready for tonight and the Christmas village in the Santa Claus Park will be ready December 1st. A new tradition for this year will be the addition of a night time “Parade of Lights Santa Claus Parade” on December 1st. if you know of anyone who would like to add a float please contact the Town of Bay Roberts @ 786 2126.

Our Visitor’s Pavilion is starting to look festive again this year (thanks Lois, Fraser and staff) . Our hours are going to change this year to accommodate those who would like to take their families up there in the late afternoon and early evening. This facility is a Christmas gem in our community, please take the time to visit and enjoy the decorations.
We are blessed with so many events going on during our festival. I would be remiss if I did not mention the Nativity Collection at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints , it is amazing, please take the time to drop in and view the displays from all over the world. I am also delighted to inform you about the Live Nativity that will be taking place December 20th at the Salvation Army it is a Christmas tradition you will not want to miss.
It is impossible for me to mention all the events going on, all of them are special so here is the link to our community calendar. http://www.calendarwiz.com/calendars/calendar.php?crd=bayroberts&&jsenabled=1&winh=490&winw=1024&inifr=false
