After over working for the town of Bay Roberts for over 34 years, our colleague and friend is calling it a career and retiring. As Town Clerk, she was truly a professional, knowledgeable and when need be, spirited, feisty even !!(and we would not have it any other way). Having said that, this blog is written to simply state that she will be missed and that she was a part of a team that appreciated her. I personally had the opportunity to work with Shirley for 18 years and during this time I considered her more of a friend than a colleague (and will always consider her a wonderful friend as well as her husband Roger).

Sometimes in life, we do not have the privilege to wish someone well, or say we appreciated getting to know someone. In this case I do, and I wish you Shirley, much happiness in your retirement. My final written words to you are, “The best of luck to ya!!”

  1. I have had dealings in various forms with Shirley over her entire 34 years with the Town. I can say, unconditionally, that no one has given more committed, dedicated, honest, and professional service to the Town than Shirley has. Through all the changes in Council members and staff personnel she remained the one consistent that could be relied on for honest information in a timely manner. She will be sorely missed by Council, staff, and taxpayers. She has earned her retirement and we wish her well.

It’s been great working with you for the past 12 years. After 34 some years, you’ve earned the time off. Enjoy every minute. I’m sure you will find something to do with all the extra time now. Best wishes and happy retirement.

  3. I wish she’d stay until I get MY feet wet!!! But after 34 years……… I wish her just as many healthy and happy years of retirement with her Family !!!! xoxo

  4. Ron, thanks so much for your kind words. I too appreciate your friendship and look forward to any future opportunities for a get together with you and Lisa and all my former colleagues. Wishing you all the best!

  5. Congratulations Shirley and best of luck in your retirement. I am sure that you will miss all the phone calls and early morning rises. Enjoy it to the fullest.
