EDANL Taste of Newfoundland and Labrador

The EDAC conference is well under way with many educational sessions and tours catered for the Economic Developers from across Canada here in beautiful St. John’s. Fellowship and making connections are also a huge part of a conference , our provincial association EDANL had the privilege to host the 2013 delegates to a evening of food, music and of course a good dose of NL hospitality.

Here is just a few pictures of what I think was a wonderful evening.

Scoff and a Scuff: A Taste of Newfoundland Culture

First to the food, it all was amazing and it was a departure away from the stereotypical Newfoundland fare of “Fish and Chips” (although I do like a good feed, there is much more to our Newfoundland and Labrador food culture, and we presented it last night!!)

The Jiggs Dinner Ravioli, stuffed with salt meat, carrot, cabbage, turnip and peas pudding with pot liquor was a delight to sample.

The lamb was slow braised with fresh local root vegetables in a Guinness Stout lamb jus. I enjoyed the depth of flavor and in my opinion would certainly count as a comfort food.

The Sundance Chowder was very flavorful.

Chef Andrea Maunder of Bacalao provided us with a crisp and refreshing NL seafood ceviche with organic farm chilies and local herbs on a tostada with Iceberg Cucumber Vodka crema that was indeed wicked on the taste buds!!”

After the meal it was time to take to the streets of George Street for a pub crawl. I had a blast helping host this excursion with EDO Colin of Glovertown NL, the delegates were up for a good time and I am happy to announce the TEAM BOOYA won the tour by showing you can run a good pub crawl and be the first back for the SCUFF.
