Happy Halloween!!

Halloween is upon us and the kid’s excitement is on high!! My two children are gone off to school with their new costumes. Today is a special day for all children, a day to dress up, act silly and just have fun.
My wife Lisa and daughter Maggie have been working hard on her costume which is Maggie’s take on a zebra, the dress was made out of duct tape. As you can see it worked out well and she is all smiles! Kaegan’s costume is a little freaky; with a morph suit and that oversized head I am sure he will get a few double takes.

Halloween in Bay Roberts

This year the town of Bay Roberts kicked up our Halloween celebrations a notch with the addition of the Halloween Park. For those of you in the Conception Bay North area, there is still time to visit as it will be open tonight. It is a great place to take your family for pictures or just tour the displays and watch the Halloween illumination. (Old Ball Field Road, Off Cross Roads).

Halloween Safety

There will be many little ghosts and goblins walking the streets tonight in all our communities. Please drive slow and keep a look out for these little ones. Also please ensure your children wear something reflective or bright to assist those driving so they can spot them quickly. Once again this year the Bay Roberts Fire Department will be driving the streets with their “Pumpkin Patrol”. If any child gets lost or is in danger these vehicles are there to assist as well as give out some treats while supplies last.  I personally would like to thank the fire Department volunteers for taking the time to help make our streets safe.

Halloween 2012 in Bay Roberts

It’s only a few days till Halloween and the excitement is building in Bay Roberts and surrounding area!! The spooky season that turns young and old into ghost and goblins, the Halloween season that makes us set our PVR to record all the scary movies is upon us.

The smell of the rotting leaves and the cool breeze makes me think of my youth, “trick or treating” and picking out that special mask that would surely chill the soul of those who dared look at it. Those were days when the observance was simple yet wonderful. The anticipation of the annual airing of “It’s the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown” brought much excitement into the Delaney household.

That spirit of Halloween and all the excitement it brings is alive and well in Bay Roberts. Over the past three years we have developed a new event called “Pumpkin Fest”.  It started as a weekend event tailored to children, to carve pumpkins, display them at our Visitors Pavilion to be judged, and have a party. Although the event continues and improves, we decided to kick it up a notch with the addition of a Halloween Park. (Visit www.bayroberts.com)

Halloween Park

Two frightening souls you will see at the Halloween Park!!

The Bay Roberts Halloween Park is a pedestrian friendly venue that is designed for all ages. It is tailored to entice families to visit for picture taking and spending time together discovering the many displays. During two Saturdays in October (20th and 27th), the park plays host to “Lantern Tours”. These are guided tours of the park with real life characters to guide you along your Halloween journey. The tour is for all ages and is developing into another tradition for our community. (The tour begins 7 pm and 8 pm at the Bay Roberts Community Gardens)

Halloween fun in the Park!!

If you are in the Bay Roberts area over the weekend tune in to 103.9 Kixx country or our Halloween radio station 88.5 for info on this weekend’s events.
